Wow, I can’t say enough good things about Sensible Home Products! Jeremy came to my home and we discussed the siding and trim job. Agreed on a price and start time, the crew showed up when scheduled and on time. The crew was very professional, worked hard and cleaned up, great crew. The work was outstanding, I would recommend Sensible Home Products to anyone who asked, I finally have a home I’m proud to come home to, thank-you
Short version – Sensible Home Products has done a phenomenal job on our home. We are so glad we found Jeremy and his high rating is definitely deserved. We had a roof, vinyl siding, door/window trim, a few windows, gutters, garage doors, and garage trim all completed by his team in quick order. I was very impressed with the crew’s professionalism and attention to detail. The work was completed quickly and afterwards there was no debris left to pick up. In fact, the dumpster was out of the driveway 30 minutes after the job was complete. Nice touch J. Long version – My neighborhood was hit with a freak hailstorm in Mid-May 2018. Tennis ball sized hail did a number to my house and every other house in a 2 mile radius. The very next day, the construction equivalent of ambulance chasers from all over the country converged and promised homeowners to fix it right. Big fancy trucks, matching uniforms, glossy pamphlets. Naturally suspicious of the convenience that they were selling I held off and met with local contractors and finally Jeremy (because of the high ratings). I am sure glad I waited. He laid everything out for me, showed me the quality of is work, suggested a few improvements within my budget and got right to work for us. Besides the quality of work I witnessed in pictures what really struck a chord with me was that his crew has been with him for years. It shows a lot of character in the construction business to have a crew work that many years for one general contractor. I could tell he cared about taking care of his crews and doing right by the customer. Fast forward 2 week before construction was to start and we had buyer’s remorse on the color choice for the home. I still feel bad but Jeremy really went to bat for us on siding already custom made for our job and got it switched to a different color. It wasn’t without some hardship so please, if you do decide on a color, stick to it. I’m not sure Jeremy could take another last minute change of that magnitude. Construction begins in early November. The construction crew shows up on time every day the weather permitted and even some days when it didn’t. They had many, many windows and doors that required trimming out and, if there’s one thing Jeremy takes greatest pride in, it’s the trim work. There was one gentleman bending metal full time each and every day on the job and I continue to be amazed at the quality of their work. Whereas most aluminum trim is flat, they actually made several bends in the metal to give it depth and pop out more. Additionally, we ponied up for the Azek trim around the garage doors and wow! what a difference. I get compliments daily on how great the doors and trim look. As a consequence of having such a great looking house with everything so well put together I now see other homes differently. You never recognize the poor craftsmanship and cut corners until you see great craftsmanship. I thought my house looked good and that’s why I bought it a few years ago. With the new siding/roof it made me realize how old and tired the house was. One last feather in Jeremy’s cap is that he is a great communicator. There may not have been a day over the past month that I haven’t spoken with him about the project. In comparison, my neighbor sent a large check to another contractor and has not been able to reach him for the past few weeks. In summary, the hailstorm was the worst/best thing to happen to this house and Sensible Home Products really went above and beyond in every facet of this construction project. Cheers Jeremy, great job.
When I first met Jeremy, I could tell he was different than the other companies I had come out for an estimate. The Joppa started earlier than expected, and I was very happy with that. The crew that came out was extremely professional with their work, and very meticulous as well. At the end of every day, where they were working on the house was completely cleaned up as if they were never even there. Jeremy came by almost every day to check on the progress, as well as talk to his crew, and talk to me as well to make sure that I was satisfied with the work. When the back of the house was finished, I sent a picture to my brother and sister-in-law, and my sister-in-law actually asked if I had brand new windows as well because the windows are framed like a picture and are absolutely beautiful. The color is exactly what I expected it to be, and I am thrilled because the siding has a backing to it which will help insulate the house. Now that the house is finished, it looks brand new. I am thrilled, I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
I have nothing but high praise for Sensible Home Products of Berlin, CT. From the day the work began, to completion two week later, I was taken back by the extreme high quality, professionalism, and neatness of this 4-man crew of dedicated workers. This story actually started four months earlier when Jeremy (the owner) made an appointment to visit our home and offer suggestions on various vinyl siding options. He arrived on the date and appointment time we set in advance (not like the other company that cancelled two hours before his date due to an “overbooking”). Jeremy brought actual samples of siding so a side-by-side comparison could be made. Not the small 4 inch squares of sample siding but the actual full length pieces that he positioned on our house. Jeremy explained how the job would be done – (complete removal of existing siding and house wrap; inspection of all the plywood and wood trim; and then the “wrapping” of windows and doors with vinyl trim). His enthusiasm in describing his crew’s commitment to quality confirmed my belief that I had chosen the right company to install vinyl siding on our home. The men arrived on time and set-up a tarp on which they placed their saws – very neat and clean operation. Additional tarps were placed around the home to catch the old siding and nails. When their work day ended, all tools were picked up and put away; all old siding was placed in the dumpster; and any small pieces of new siding was cleaned up. This process was done each and every day so there was never a mess around the house or tools to walk around. Work progressed quickly each day with no time wasted. I noticed the high quality of installation – such as a level being used on the recessed trim around the dryer vent or the electrical outlets. It may seem trivial to be that precise, but every piece of siding is straight and level. Jeremy checked in on his crew throughout the entire job and called me just about every evening to see if I had any concerns or comments. I was very pleased with the outcome of the installation of vinyl siding on our home and outbuilding. Jeremy even installed a new window; a door; and a garage door – no more painting for me! In closing, I would highly recommend Sensible Home Products of Berlin, CT for any siding need. Their attention to detail; professionalism; neatness; courtesy; and on-time performance was second to none. Jeremy has an excellent crew working for him and the end result was fantastic.
I’ve had very few home improvement projects exceed my expectations, but the siding work Sensible Home did on my house did just that. Jeremy sat down with me to review every aspect of the project, from the type of siding and benefits of each to the small detail work around existing plugs and vents. He was patient with my every question (and there were many) and explained things in great deal. At the end of the day, my focus was not on price—although Sensible was competitive with the other vendors who gave me quotes—but on quality. At the end of the day, the project was delivered on and on budget and it made my house striking. The little things matter and every cut, trim piece, and accent speaks to the level of quality Jeremy and his people bring to their work. I could not be happier with the finished product and every one of my neighbors has complimented me on the look.
I was looking for and was very happy to find a local roofing contractor on Angie’s List rather than going with a big named company, and I was not disappointed. From my first conversation with Jeremy right through completion of the of the job, Jeremy was professional and thorough. He was quick to provide me with a very competitive quote and explained how the way he performed the work differentiated his company from the other companies I was considering. He was also very flexible in working his schedule around mine, completed the job on time, and was very meticulous about keeping the yard free of debris during and after the job. I highly recommend contacting Jeremy, not only for roofing jobs, but for siding as well. Jeremy is personable, professional and an easy person to work with who cares about the quality of the work he does and ensuring customer satisfaction.
I would say to anyone who wants to install vinyl siding or to replace windows than to search no further, and to select Jeremy and Sensible Home Products for their home improvement project. In April, 2018, we completed a full exterior renovation project with Sensible Home Products and we could not be happier. It was completed on time, within budget and with top-notch quality. There are three aspects that make them outstanding: First, the work crew is top-notch. They will explain all aspects of their work as they progress through the job. They stay busy all day, and are always polite and well mannered. At the end of each day, they clean up around the house. We trusted them with keys to our house, even when we were away on vacation. Second, the materials are top-notch. You may get less expensive quotes from lesser contractors, but in the end, you will appreciate the quality and value in the work from Sensible Home. Lesser contractors will slap j-channel stock around windows, whereas Sensible uses picture-frame trim for a completely professional finish. Lesser contractors will use low-grade Mainstreet thin gage siding, whereas Sensible pointed us to solid-core Prodigy, which hangs perfectly straight, is rigid, and has excellent insulation properties. Third, Jeremy is a terrific contractor. He will stay in touch at all times. He will make sure that you are satisfied. Everything is well documented, and he follows through with what he commits to. At one point, a special light mounting block was needed but couldn’t be found. We were willing to accept a substitute, but he was afraid that it didn’t meet his standards. He found one at a distributor in Texas, and then found a special courier that could get it to the job site, in time to keep the work moving forward. Jeremy will go the extra mile, and we are recommending him to all friends and family. Chris & Robin, Guilford
For those of you who don’t have the time to read this entire review, here’s the short version: excellent customer service and master craftsmen with a strong eye for detail. My house was transformed! Now for the detailed review. I met Jeremy (the owner) in January of this year as I was beginning my research into replacing my windows and adding siding to my 62-year-old house. I liked him from the start – and honestly was tempted to look no further, but due diligence is key for a project of this size and cost. So I met with the other big companies that are advertised on tv and was not impressed. They do not do the work themselves, they contract the work out to someone else. I did not want that. I wanted to know who was doing the work on my house. These representatives were just the sales people selling the services and not doing the actual work. No thank you! I had seen Jeremy’s portfolio of work and was very impressed, his employees do the work, and after reading 26 positive reviews on Angie’s List, I was certain that Jeremy was the guy for me. And he did not disappoint. His customer service is exceptional. We have all had our experiences with contractors. They don’t show up on time, you cannot reach them and it’s very frustrating. You call Jeremy, he answers. You text, he calls you right away. He checked in every day of my project. The windows and siding were delivered on time. We thought we’d have an issue with the delivery as I have a very narrow driveway and the siding was to be placed on my lawn by a big machine which barely fit. Jeremy was ready to grab a few men and do it by hand if this was the only way. No hesitation, this is what they will do. The delivery was fine in the end, but I was impressed by how Jeremy would jump right in and help. The work began on time throughout the entire project. The windows were done in one day – I have 19 windows. The trim for the windows was just perfect. The attention to detail was amazing. The siding project began immediately following the windows; again, Vlad and Victor arrived on time and got so much accomplished each and every day. I was a bit freaked out when Jeremy called to tell me that the sill of the house (in the back) was destroyed by termites. However, he assured me it would be taken care of and it was, it was replaced. They see a problem, they fix it and keep going. Every detail is important. For example, the attic vent matches the color of the siding as does the frame surrounding the outside outlet and vent for my dryer. We got new gutters and downspouts and they put in a new roof on the small porch in the front. Basically, everything from the roof down is new and beautiful. The project is now complete and my home is stunning. Sensible Home Products will do all my future projects. They put pride in their work and their work is perfection. This isn’t about making money, it’s about making the homeowner happy. I am ridiculously happy. Thank you Jeremy, Vlad and Victor.
I was picked to hire a contractor to side my Mom’s 50+ yr old home. After interviewing 5 companies, I selected Sensible Home Products because of Jeremy’s knowledge ,professionalism, and pricing for a quality product. The “team” showed up 2days later to begin a job that was quoted as a 2 week project. I was pleasantly surprised that the house was finished in ONE week and looked spectacular! The work crew couldn’t have been nicer, neater, or more professional! The yard was picked up immaculately every evening and the guys were there early every morning to begin work. Jeremy was EXTREMELY conscientious of the budget we were working with and went out of his way to make sure everything went as planned! I would not hesitate to hire this company again and have recommended them to several people already. It couldn’t have gone more smoothly and my Mom is thrilled with her “new” house!
We have nothing but the highest praise for the work performed by Sensible Home Products. Our house was damaged by a huge tree that fell on it during a windstorm. This necessitated repair of the roof, deck, and siding along with repair of a generator and removal of the tree. Repair work was excellent. The craftsmen missed no opportunity to make our house look better than before. We were impressed with their attention to detail. They worked daily, full days, until the job was completed. At the end of each workday, ladders and equipment were picked up. End of job cleanup was thorough. Our insurance company did their best to pay only a small amount of what we were entitled to. With advice from Sensible’s owner Jeremy (and the many hours he spent communicating with the insurance company, picking up siding samples for the insurance company, taking pictures, meeting with two of the three adjusters that came out) we eventually were able to recover a significant percentage of what we were owed. We give Sensible Home Products our highest recommendation.
We’re going to start off by saying that Jeremy and his crew are bar none the best company that we have ever worked with. Upon purchasing our new home, we knew that something needed to be done with old, peeling clapboard. In addition to that, the previous owner replaced just half of the windows and the front balcony needed new posts/railings and a roof. We have an attached shed and 5 doghouse dormers so we knew that this wasn’t going to be a small job and had to choose a company that could handle it. We met with three different companies to go over our project, including Sensible Home Products. Jeremy arrived on time and ready to go, with a sample of the siding that they use and plenty of pictures of other finished projects. Based on meeting with the other companies, we had first decided to go with CertainTeed’s monogram siding. However, Jeremy quickly changed our minds after showing us and explaining how Alside’s insulated Prodigy siding is superior. We also discussed the desire to replace the rest of the old windows and how we wanted to closely match them with the others that were new. Although this was a unique situation, Jeremy had no problem with having to put in extra time and work to find a close match. Before Jeremy left, he made sure that we were all on the same page and confirmed that he would get back us with an estimate. He was upfront about everything and we liked how his recommendations were to benefit us, not just him. When we made the decision to proceed, Jeremy returned and made sure that we fully understood the contract before signing. He made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process and did not pressure us at all. Project Details On the first day, Jeremy and his crew arrived early to make sure that the delivery of the dumpster went smoothly. We gave him specific instructions on where to put it and he made sure it happened. His crew was prompt, courteous and clean, showing up every day on time and cleaned up before they left. As unforeseen problems came up, such as rotted wood, Jeremy quickly called and provided pictures of the issues. Each time, he would explain the problem, provide options to fix it and made sincere recommendations as to what he would do if this was his house. This is one of the many qualities that we love about Jeremy and his crew – They’re passionate about their work and they care. They treat your home as if it were their own. Throughout the entire process, Jeremy was in contact with us every day. He called with questions about specific details before proceeding and would also check-in at the end of the day to make sure that we were happy with how things were progressing. When we asked for some additional work outside of the original scope, he had no problem getting this done and doing it right. For example, in the middle of the project we asked if he could install new exterior french doors in place of existing doors. We picked them out online from a local store and Jeremy went there to check them out – He wanted to make sure the quality was good and that they would fit. He even had the store representative open them (they were screwed shut) so he could confirm that the latches would work with our setup. As the project neared completion, our house was completely transformed. To make sure we were satisfied with everything and nothing was missed, Jeremy asked us to walk around the house and send him a list of anything that was not completed or that we were unhappy with. Throughout the entire process, it was clear that Jeremy’s number one priority was to make sure that we were happy. In conclusion, we couldn’t be happier with the decision to use Sensible Home Products. The workmanship from Jeremy’s crew is incredible, the communication was perfect and the final product is beautiful. Jeremy does not hesitate to go out of his way to make sure the job is done right. Below is a quick recap of the qualities that we love about Jeremy and his crew: – They’re passionate about their work and care about every little detail – They’re prompt, courteous and clean – They stand behind their product – They have excellent communication – Their recommendations are sincere – They go out of their way to make sure you’re happy
Professional. Courteous. Integrity. Three words that come to mind after working with Sensible Home Products to reside my house this past winter. At the beginning of the year, my home was struck by a drunk driver. It is a blessing that neither the driver nor anyone else was killed or injured. However, the vehicle strike to the corner of the house required the replacement of all the siding, gutters and downspouts. Insurance appraisers for the driver?s and my home owner?s insurance companies came and went. I began to research building codes and siding companies. I finalized my research and set appointments with five companies. I knew what my insurance company had given me for the job so I began the meetings. Being self-employed, I understand the process of selling not only your product but also your business, a part of you. No appointment was going to be a quick 5-minute look around the property and hand me a quote meeting, yet I scheduled an entire day of appointments. I had had appointments with several companies: a no show, no call and no I won?t reschedule with your company; arrive smelling of alcohol so I know the employees will be drinking on the job, on my property, no thank you; incomplete job quotes which leave room for increases beyond the budget number given, yeah no; job quotes one and one half to two times the budget number given, again, no;. My time is valuable and so is everyone else?s. No phone call to say you can?t keep the appointment shows you don?t value your potential customer. Arriving for an appointment smelling of alcohol is completely unprofessional. There?s no respect for the potential customer. I get that construction comes with surprises, but a built in 1 ½ to 2 times the budget number given before-hand causes me to be suspicious. Sensible Home Products was next. I believe it was Zig Ziglar who said when you do the right thing, good things come to you. I was returning home for the appointment when the radiator hose on the car split in Cromwell, CT, 20 minutes away from my home and 45 minutes before the appointment with Sensible Home Products. I had made arrangements for the car repair and to be on time for the appointment. I began to call Jeremy from Sensible Home Products but he was already on the phone calling me. He was able to meet earlier than scheduled and was confirming I was home. Jeremy gave a brief overview of his company and asked if he could be at my house in 15 minutes. I mentioned the car problem and asked to keep the original appointment time, 45 minutes later. Jeremy switched from pitching the job to asking if I needed a tow, did I have triple A? My response was I did not have triple A. His next response was to tell me he would find his membership card and call for me. Yes, Jeremy went from selling his business to what can I do to help you? After several calls, the appointment was rescheduled for the following day. Jeremy arrived on time and prepared to look at the property and present a quote. He was very professional and straight-forward. He explained the product (Prodigy Insulated siding) the company used, why they used it and why they didn?t use anything else. He walked around the house, measured and gave me a job quote. I had made the decision to go with Sensible Home Products not after the appointment and receiving the quote but when Jeremy stopped selling his business and went out of his way to help me with my towing dilemma. Jeremy didn?t reschedule the appointment and hang up the phone; he made the decision to help without measuring it against the bottom line. It all said integrity to me. After answering a few questions for my clarification, my husband & I signed the contract and mailed it out. A week later, once the insurance check cleared, we sent the deposit. Winter weather hadn?t really happened before January, so the plan was to start the job within a week of receiving the deposit check. But nature and weather patterns can cause havoc with any outside home improvement or renovation at any time of the year! Rather than ignore the customer until the weather cleared, Jeremy was on the phone keeping me informed of the new projected start date. Weather continued to cause problems, but I was never left guessing about the start time of our job. Finally, a break came in the weather and scheduling. All the colors on the quote were double checked, location of products and dumpster were communicated and, the most important detail, the project start date. The crew members for Sensible Home Products were extremely professional. They took the time to answer any questions either my husband or I asked them. Nothing, absolutely nothing, was left on the ground each day they were able to work. Yes, weather caused delays more than once. Jeremy called to keep me updated each and every time. The compliments started as soon as the windows were framed and wrapped. Everyone thought we had new windows installed. The high quality work was noticed with just that part of the house completed. The quality of the siding is visibly superior to anything else around our home. Jeremy had told me that we would notice how the siding would help maintain the heat during the winter and the air conditioning during the summer, the house was only partially sided and a major snow storm came through the state. We heat our home with a pellet stove and noticed immediately how much of a difference the siding made with heat retention. The last time we had a storm like that we had to run the pellet stove at its highest plus use our woodstove. This storm we only used the pellet stove at the midpoint setting. With the house finished, it looks brand new. Friends are driving by to look at the finished product. The compliments continue to be expressed. The house looks so good my neighbors are taking notice and sprucing up their properties.
Jeremy knows his business well and is very passionate about the quality of work. His prices are competitive but simply being the cheapest quote is not his goal. He wants to provide the best quote for high quality materials and workmanship. That’s a perfect match for what we look for…. high quality at a fair price. We had other quotes but felt best overall about Jeremy and now that the project is done, we are very happy with that decision. The electrical work and new garage doors came from Jeremy’s contacts with other contractors / companies. We were pleased with both which demonstrates Jeremy’s desire for a good overall experience for the customer. This review is for Sensible Home Products so I will focus on Jeremy’s company. It was clear from the first meeting that Jeremy has a high degree of attention to detail which often determines the difference between a mediocre and excellent finished product. A few noteworthy areas that make Jeremy stand out from the rest: • Price: I had a similar quote from another contractor but for lesser quality siding (hollow instead of insulated). I also had a similar siding quality quote but Jeremy was several thousand dollars cheaper. So, Jeremy’s quote beat them both. • Responsiveness: Jeremy is by far the most responsive contractor I have any used for any job. Despite running a large enough company that they always have multiple projects underway, I always felt like my house was his main concern. In the past, I have become frustrated when other contractors went into “radio silence” mode. Jeremy nearly always responded to me within 15 minutes. Unless he has cloned himself or has a twin, I’m not sure how he does it! But it made all the difference. I never wondered what was going on throughout the project and had all questions answered very quickly. • Fights on your behalf: As with any large project, there are always things which don’t quite go as smoothly as they should. Ours was no exception. For example, the dumpster was placed in the wrong spot and badly damaged our front yard. And the window manufacturer messed up the order which caused an extra 5 weeks for them to re-do it for the correct windows. In both cases, Jeremy took control of the situation and fought on my behalf to make lemonade out of lemons. He aggressively pursued solutions and kept me informed. The front yard was repaired and re-seeded and we received a significant discount on the windows as a result of their error. It was very nice to know he’s dealing with it and I didn’t need to. So overall, I am very happy we chose to go with Jeremy. The house looks great. I would definitely use him again if future projects fall within his wheelhouse. The only unhappy characters in this project are the woodpeckers who enjoyed our cedar siding and now need to look elsewhere.
Jeremy and his team are wonderful and professional. I couldn’t be happier with the finished product. I purchased a 49 year old home. It still had the original cedar shakes and most have been rotted or damaged by woodpeckers and insects. The wood fascia was rotting and the side entrance to the walkout basement had rotten windows, a roof that was installed improperly by the previous owners and rotten wood. It was ready to fall down. I had other vendors tell me that they would happily install siding over the rotten wood (ouch). Jeremy met with me and told me that he would take all of the old siding off and repair what needs to be repaired. Not only did he repair any rotten wood, he literally rebuilt the side entrance to the basement, including 3 large new windows and new (properly installed) roof. The workers worked hard from the moment they arrived to the moment they left at the end of the day. Jeremy is a perfectionist and the work is impeccable. I am so happy that I chose Sensible Home Products and would recommend them to anyone who is considering re-siding or installing new siding from old wood siding to their home.
Background: My husband and I purchased a home four years ago and knew upon purchase we were going to need to re-side it at some point. There were several woodpecker holes on each side of the home and a family of very energetic woodpeckers living in our backyard. Our home was built in 1957 and, much to the woodpeckers delight, had the original wood shingles. After spending years patching the holes and trying every possible method to deter them, (owl statue to frighten them away…they laughed. Hot pepper surrounding the holes to deter them with scent…they loved it!!). When it was evident that the woodpeckers were an armed force we simply could not compete with, we decided to move forward with the vinyl siding project. Initial Consultation: I met with six different contractors over the course of one month and knew within minutes of meeting Jeremy from Sensible Home Products that he was the right fit for our project. Jeremy arrived on time with his partner to discuss our remodel and came prepared with samples, pictures, ideas and best of all, a sense of humor. My day had been crazy and I was in the process of feeding my then 6 month old daughter dinner. Jeremy was professional but kind and patient while I listened to his pitch while in crazy mommy mode, juggling the needs of my daughter. Many of the other contractors I met with were focused on getting the job done quickly and neglected to provide details on how extensive the project would be. Four out of the six contractors suggested we side over the existing wood shingles which would save us time and money. As a fairly new homeowner who is also new to the world of vinyl siding, my initial response to that was, great! Quicker and cheaper. That’s a win for everyone! Jeremy was the first contractor to suggest we strip the entire home of the existing wood shingles and start from scratch with the vinyl. We also discussed adding a slider door in my dining room and possibly adding a window in my living room as part of this project. I shared with him the siding method the other contractors were suggesting and he went into great detail about what it meant to side over shingles and how it would negatively impact our home long-term. He took the time to provide a very comprehensive explanation on why his company does not offer that method to its customers. Everything he said made sense. He explained that your home is the largest purchase you make and a home remodel is costly, so it’s important to take the time to accurately address the needs of the home and ensure any and all updates are done properly. He explained that if we had an unknown issue underneath the shingles such as mold or rot and he sided over the wood, that unknown issue would be encapsulated under the new siding. Down the road, when the issue presented itself, the new siding would then need to be ripped down, and the issue would need to be addressed. Jeremy is simply unwilling to provide this type of disservice to his customers. Jeremy was the only contractor to explain each and every component of the job, complete with visual aids. Our initial meeting was the perfect blend of professional and casual conversation. It was evident that in addition to trying to sell his service, he took the time to try to get to know my family which I appreciated. He was not aggressive in his pursuit of our business which was extremely refreshing. When we told him we were postponing our decision until the spring, he was very understanding and told us he would reserve a spot for us and follow up with us in March. Preliminary Meeting When spring approached, Jeremy was diligent about following up with us without making us feel pressured. Our initial meeting to sign the contract was smooth and he came fully prepared and answered all of our remaining questions. We made it clear that we were on a very tight budget and we expressed our concern about going over that budget if unexpected costs arose. He assured us it would be fine and he didn’t anticipate any issues. He also worked with us to develop a construction strategy to afford any unforeseen costs by holding off on the slider door and window installation and reserving those funds in case we needed them. Jeremy truly understands the stress that homeowners feel during the various stages of a home improvement project and he does everything he can to put your mind at ease. Project Go Time: Day one of the project, the house was stripped and the first unknown issue arose. The woodpecker damage was pretty severe, especially on all four corners of the house. It was determined that the corners were going to have to be re-built and other areas corrected before moving forward. I couldn’t help but remind myself what the other contractors had suggested. Had we sided over the wood shingles, this issue would never have been discovered and it definitely would have caused structural problems down the road. I knew at that moment we were in very good hands and we made the best decision hiring Jeremy for this job. Once the entire house was stripped, we were able to make a decision about the door and window. Jeremy knew how important it was for us to have the slider door and window added to our home so he decided to only charge us the cost of material to rebuild the corners of the house. He could have charged us extra labor for this, but instead, he put our needs first. Communication: What I found most impressive about working with Jeremy was the exceptional level of communication he provided throughout the project. Each evening, he would place a call to us to discuss the work that had been done that day. He asked if we were happy, if anything needed to be changed and if we had any questions. He also discussed the work that would take place the following day. He kept us well informed of each step of the project and he was genuinely excited to hear what we thought as we came home to newly completed pieces each day. We often heard things like “Are you excited!!?? Doesn’t it look great!? Or, I can’t wait for you to get home to see what we did today!” His enthusiasm was contagious and rather than feeling stressed about the house being in pieces, we felt excited about the change and how beautiful it was looking. In addition to our nightly calls, Jeremy provided text messages with pictures throughout the day when big pieces of the project were underway. When they cut a large hole in our dining room for the slider door, we got a picture. When the door was fully installed, we got a picture. I don’t know many contractors that take the time out of their day to do this. Again, it shows his level of commitment and dedication to the project and our happiness with the quality of his work. Cleanliness: I expected the house to be a mess during this process but was pleasantly surprised at how clean and neat Jeremy’s crew was. There wasn’t a single screw or nail in sight when we returned home each day which is extremely important with a toddler running around. When the slider was installed and wall put back up, I returned home to member of his crew diligently vacuuming our living room. There was no debris or material outside the perimeter of the house or in our yard. I was also very impressed with the cleanliness of my bathrooms while they were being used by his crew. I am amazed that they were able to maintain such a clean working environment and it’s clear that this is a priority within his business operations. Above and Beyond: I was extremely grateful with the level of service provided by Jeremy, especially components that went well above and beyond what he was hired to do. We had a patio put in our backyard last year and he expressed his concern with adding the slider door with nothing to step down to since we have a wobbly toddler on the loose. He was genuinely concerned for our daughter’s safety and volunteered to build a small deck with leftover wood he had at no cost to us. Jeremy knew we were on a tight budget and he consistently provided ideas and ways we could save money. We discussed putting in a plain standard sliding door which was the cheapest option. Jeremy scouted different stores and found a custom Thermastar special order door that a customer changed their mind on, so Lowes was selling it at a discount. He immediately sent us a picture via text and called to make sure we wanted it. It was a beautiful energy efficient door complete with internal blinds. He was so excited to have found this door for us and best of all, it was the same price as the standard one. Final Thoughts: Like most homeowners, our home is very special to us and placing it in the care of a stranger causes a lot of anxiety and stress, especially when adding the financial strain to the mix. Jeremy has a gift in his ability to make you feel completely comfortable with the process. He assures you that you will never regret spending the money on the house once you see the final result. I can say with absolute certainty that he was right. Every decision that was made with his guidance was the right decision. He was right about not siding over the house and he was right about not regretting the cost of the project. He has been in the business long enough to know what he is talking about and it’s evident that he feels a sense of obligation to guide his customers in the right direction. He truly wants to help people make their homes a more beautiful place to live. I would recommend his company to anyone with a home improvement project without any hesitation. We have some additional plans for our home in the coming years and we look forward to working with him again.
I’ve used Jeremy and his crew as the main contractors for all my major projects since I’ve bought my house (with one exception where I should have used him but you live and learn). I contacted Jeremy about replacing 2 broken sliding glass doors and he got back to me that same day. He gave us some sites and brands to research for potential new doors and even directed us away from a VERY expensive door brand to a brand that is just as good but is a far better deal. After my wife and I picked out the door options he compared color and pattern samples of the door we picked to the color of our siding and trim. We didn’t ask him to do this, he’s just the kind of person who takes care of his customers. The color options we picked out didn’t quite match and he showed us a different color that matched better. After the doors came in, he had his crew out here and they replaced the old doors in one day. The new doors matched perfectly inside and out and are so much better at keeping noise out and heat in.There was one issue where the frame of one of the doors wasn’t built thick enough and a screw went through a wire for lighting on that wall. He had his guy back out here and fixed the issue quickly. I’ve worked with Jeremy for 4 or 5 years now and I can’t recommend him enough. His team is professional, curteous, and quick at their jobs. It’s difficult to find a good contractor but Jeremy is one of the best out there. Give him a call and let him look at your project. His prices are far better than the competition (the door project cost me 4000 dollars less than I was quoted by RESCOM) and his workmanship is outstanding!
I reached to to Jeremy based on his Angie’s list reviews. He called me back within a couple hours of leaving a message while he was on vacation with his family. From there we met to go over my wish list for the house and take measurements and write up a quote. I had 3 other estimates for the same work. While his price wasn’t the lowest (no where near the highest either) it was by far the best quality foam backed siding and best overall value. He worked with me on getting everything I wanted at a price I could afford. His pride in workmanship was evident from the start as he showed me pictures of previous jobs. When the work started I was still not disappointed. Victor and Valad showed up 15 minutes early every day and worked until sundown. They cleaned up after each day’s work and we’re professional and pleasant and did beautiful work! When taking off the old siding we found many instances of rotted wood and structural issues on my sunroom. They were addressed quickly and Jeremy stayed in constant communication with me to choose the best course of action. The end result is a beautiful home. When you are having work like this done to your home it is important to feel comfortable and have a good relationship with your contractor and crew. Jermey and his team were great to work with.
From first to last Jeremy and his crew were a pleasure to work with. Not only were Sensible Home Products the best quote, they managed to provide said quote while still selecting the best materials to do the job. He also took us carefully through all our selections until we were happy with color and trim selections which is always a tricky part of the whole process. They always went that extra mile, adding lighting we had selected, installing a door and r building the frame where rot was evident when the siding was removed, adding out door lighting we had selected to replace our old rusted lights and completely reworking the basement entrance when the door delivered was found to be too large to fit. Jeremy always kept us up to date with what was happening and his attention to detail was impressive. The quality of work was great and any little problems (of which there were few) were quickly ironed out. The final result was a home that looked many times better than it did when we started. All in all I would highly recommend Sensible Home Products should you need siding / windows / doors. It is not often you get top price and quality all in one package. Note that the company changed name while we were having our work done, which was Precision Energy Systems. It was under this name that we originally chose Jeremy and his crew based on many more A class reviews we saw there. Overall top notch.
Sensible Home Products used an excellent brand of siding once he removed the old siding and a layer of shingles. He did a beautiful job on the picture frame of the windows and the whole house. He replaced a picture window and 3 other standard size windows. Provided new gutters with down spouts. Once uncovered replaced rotten wood in areas we had not realized was a problem. The crew went up and above professionalism in providing quality workmanship. Wonderful to work with. They all were very neat and nice. I recommend them highly as they do A+ work. Jeremy sits with you to make sure he knows what you want. He is very concerned with the quality he provides and you get want you want. He takes the time to see the job through and keeps you up to date with any changes if needed. He and his crew were a delight to work with.
We had a grilling incident 2 days before my sons 6th birthday party where my husbands friend burned the siding on my new home. One call to sensible home products on a Friday night at 9:00 pm not only did they answer the phone however, they explained it was common. Not only did only did this make me breath a sigh of relief , but, they came out the next day to a**** the damage. First thing Monday morning the crew went out of the way going to multiple manufacturers to ensure it would be a match, and called to give me what it was going to cost. Within hours the house looked better than new saving us from hours of explaining to friends and family what happened . Jeremy has a wealth of other valuable services that he offers, including but certainly not limited to: siding, fencing, kitchens and carpentry. I am already planing out my next job with him . I also own many rental properties and having an asset like Jeremy and his crew makes me feel at ease.
He walked around and told me that I would be foolish to do anything for 8 years. He told me what I could do to batten down the hatches. He was amazing. When the time comes I will use them. They came out with in two weeks of coming out. They did not charge me anything to come out. We have wood siding on the exterior of our house and he came out to look at the cupping. He was honest and not out for personal gain. He has integrity and he did give me an option if I really wanted it done.
We found Precision Energy Systems through Angie’s List. Jeremy, the business owner, came out to our house to show us videos of some of his prior projects. He was very proud of the craftsmanship that he and his crew showed in completing these projects. He gave us literature for the product that he uses and explained the advantages of the insulated siding. He explained that this siding was more expensive than what many of his competitors offer because they typically offer hollow backed siding. He told us how he and his crew would wrap the exterior windows so that they would look like picture frames. He explained some of the major differences between his company and some of his local competitors when it comes to product quality and the quality of the installation. He explained where we would see seams in the siding and where there wouldn’t be seams. He gave us the addresses of 3 recently completed projects. We also explored the possibility of having him install vinyl shakes that look like cedar, but that was far too expensive for our budget. We contacted 2 other companies for quotes. One company did not respond but one did. The other company quoted $26,500 to remove the old cedar shakes, use hollow backed double 6″ siding but putting foam insulation on the house first, and all of the repair items found during the removal of the old cedar shakes would cost extra. Their window wrapping sample was also very simple and boxy. We researched the products offered by both companies on Consumer Reports and we found that the Prodigy product offered by Precision Energy does cost twice as much as the product offered by his competitor. We went to the 3 houses that Jeremy recently completed and found that the quality of the jobs looked outstanding. We met with Jeremy to get his final quote and an estimated start date. We received his quote, bargained a bit and settled on the final price of $31,000. He said he could start in a week because he was wrapping up another job. 3 days later we paid him 1/2 of the total cost up front. We agreed to take care of getting the dumpster in place for the old shakes and getting the permit from the town of Avon which saved us a little money. The new siding arrived 2 days before the planned start date and the dumpster came on the same day. Jeremy and his crew were here the day that he promised and started ripping the old shakes off of the house. They completed this in 3 days and wrapped the house with Tyvek as they ripped off the old shakes. It took them longer than planned because many of the old shakes were rotted and they broke into little pieces when they were being removed. (Jeremy’s crew cleaned up all of this debris out of our shrubbery each day except for a few small pieces.) They then removed the old gutters. This is when they found that the prior gutters had been installed improperly by the prior owner. The prior owner had metal extensions installed every foot or so along the gutter so that they would hang in the proper place at the base of the shingles on the garage. Jeremy asked if it was ok for his crew to build out this area around the perimeter of the garage roof to allow for proper gutter installation at the end of the project. We gave him the green light on this, which cost us an additional 6 hours of labor for 2 men. At about this time we paid Jeremy the next 25% of the cost of the job. Next the crew went through and installed gorgeous aluminum wraps around each of the windows on the house. Each window looks like it has a picture frame around it. We had the windows replaced 2 years prior, but if we hadn’t done that we would have had Jeremy’s crew install new windows as well!. They started installing the new siding and fascia on our attached garage next. Jeremy found that an old door that we never used on the upper level of the garage had a lot of rot around it, so we asked him to remove the door and fill in the area. He went to Home Depot to get the plywood and 2x4s to fill this in. This didn’t slow down the crew at all. In 2 days they completed the garage. Jeremy personally installed a replacement door on the rear of the garage. The crew next moved on to the rear of the house and went very quickly installing the fascia, siding, and vent/faucet covers there. They then moved to the side of house and this phase of the project went very quickly. They then moved to the front of the house. This is when Jeremy contacted us about how he had some ideas on improving the look of our front door. He showed us a brochure of decorative vinyl door surrounds that he had used previously and pointed out the prices of each. He also showed us a brochure for a replacement front storm door. After we selected these items, he was able to work with his supplier to get them here in 2 days so that his crew wouldn’t be slowed down as they completed the front of the house. The door surround and storm door arrived on time along with 3 additional squares of siding that was needed to finish the front of the house. (We were not charged for the 3 additional squares of siding by Jeremy.) Jeremy came out with one of his crew to put the finishing touches on the front door and install a storm door on the rear garage door. His subcontractor came the next day and installed all of the new gutters. The entire job was completed in 17 days and came out looking wonderful. They did a great job a planning out how the siding was hung to minimize the number of visible seams. Jeremy stopped by and brought receipts for the front storm door and door surround that were not part of his original estimate. We paid him for these items plus the additional labor for the garage/gutter build out and the installation of the front door surround and storm door. We also paid the final 25% for the job. Our experience with Precision Energy was outstanding. Jeremy was very pleasant to deal with and his crew are real craftsmen. Their ability to complete the job when promised, even with some of the issues that came up, was also part of our excellent experience. We recommend them to anyone who has a large exterior project like ours.
One of the best experiences I have ever had with a contractor. The owner, Jeremy was polite and professional. His contracted workers were excellent and produced quality results on several repairs throughout my house both inside and out.
I met Jeremy Groll (one of the owners) at a home show and gave him my info. My wife and I went through 4-5 other companies coming to our house telling us how their siding, windows, or doors were the best stuff on earth, bringing their price down the more you protest, offering to drop the price by a grand or two if you let them take pictures of the house or if they can start next week, etc. etc. you’ve probably heard the sales pitch. All of them quoted me ridiculously high prices and I told most of them no, went with one company to do a double hung window but gave up on siding after a while thinking we couldn’t afford it. I got a call a while later from Jeremy wanting to set up an appointment to do a quote. Jeremy and Jay Swanton (the other owner of the company) came out and my wife and I plus the two of them sat down and discussed what we wanted. Jay took measurements on the house while Jeremy showed me what services they offered. Both Jay and Jeremy were friendly, down to earth, honest, people which, anyone who has ever gotten a quote from any of the big contracting companies knows that is not something you usually get from a sales rep. The price they quoted us was nearly half of what the big name companies quoted us and the siding and gutters they showed us was the exact same stuff that the other companies showed us. This sounded way too good to be true but we checked out their references and the work they did was top notch and everyone highly recommended them. So we decided to go for it. A couple weeks later they’re ready to start the job (we had to special order the color we picked) and their install team shows up ready to go. Originally the contract was just to replace the siding, gutters, and the outside lights on the house. It turned into a huge mess when they started taking off the old siding. I’m not even exaggerating when I say there were squirrel nests, mouse nests, live snakes, and extreme moisture damage throughout the house. A portion of the house beneath one of the sliding glass doors was so rotted out that the sill that rested on the concrete foundation and the wall joists that attached to it were essentially jello. In several other spots the fascia and boards behind it were completely rotted out. Jeremy and his team could have just put the siding up over all this mess, called it a good, and been done in 4 days. That’s all they were contracted to do after all. Instead they said “Look this isn’t right, let us fix this and do it the right way.” They had to completely remove a sliding glass door and rebuild the sill, joists, and the floor beneath it. When they said the door had to come out I asked if they could replace the door since it had to come out anyway. From the time I asked about a new door to the time they had to start putting it in was literally 13 hours. This is the kind of people Jeremy and his team are; I ended up asking at about 5:30PM as they were leaving if a new door was possible since they?d be in there anyway and the next morning at 6am they drove 3 hours out of their way to pick up a new door to bring it back and install it. They spent that next day rebuilding the rotted out wall, installing a brand new sliding glass door, and repairing the rotted out fascia. On top of all this, they patched a leak in my roof and braced a portion of my deck. What was supposed to be a 4 day quick and easy siding job turned literally into the project from h*** that lasted 2 weeks. Jeremy himself was here day in and day out assisting with the repairs (How many companies do you think there are where the owner will put his or her own time in with the work crews crawling under decks, cleaning out snakes, mouse nests, rotted wood and insects?) Even with the ridiculous amounts of added stress Jeremy, Jay, and the whole work crew were friendly, helpful, and professional. Because of their work ethic and commitment to do it right they actually put themselves in extremis because they had to delay starting other jobs and potentially lose some of their other customers. I challenge you to find another company that?s willing to go so far to do it right. Their work is impeccable, their work ethic is beyond reproach, and they will do the job right even if it makes their job significantly harder. I cannot recommend them enough. If you have any work that needs to be done to the outside of your house, call Jeremy and Jay. You won?t be disappointed.

It went very well. Jeremy responded quickly and although the job that I needed done was small, it was treated professionally and with detail.
When the old siding was removed, they found lots of water damage due to leaking windows. Jeremy’s crew replaced the rotted studs and even part of the sill. This was about 1/4 of the house! Jeremy helped us negotiate with the insurance company and we received the maximum allowed by our insurance contract. When the siding was up to the second story, they discovered that our roof was bad. Jeremy advised us to replace it right away before it got even worse. The roof repair was a total surprise; the solar company had inspected it 6 months before and then installed the solar panels. They later admitted that they knew the roof was bad, but just never told us. The “Sensible” crew replaced the roof–right down to the rafters–in one day! When we contemplated installing new windows, Jeremy advised against it. His team properly caulked the old windows and Jeremy was right; they are as good as new. I appreciate the fact that Jeremy did not try to make more money off us with new windows; I wonder how many other contractors would have been so hones. The new siding is wonderful! Everything fits perfectly; there are no gaps or buckling. The trim could not be better. This shows what great skill Jeremy’s crew has. I applaud them. Jeremy’s professionalism and concern for us (and our bank account) helped us get through all this with a minimum of trauma. I am glad we chose Sensible Home Products.
We had three different contractors come to give us an estimate for the work to be done. The first two were “the same old thing”. When Sensible Home Products came, my husband and I knew that Jeremy, the owner, was different. He and his great team worked with us on color, style, and type of products that they offered. They were very open to the ideas that we had and worked to make our home beautiful. They were prompt, polite, ambitious, knowledgeable, and friendly. They kept to the timeline and were finished before we knew it. Every day after they were finished working, they would clean up any mess that was made. They even vacuumed the grass! Needless to say, we were very pleased with the end product and would definitely encourage anyone needing siding or any building needs to hire this great company!
Jeremy and Sensible Home Products did a great job on my home. It was a transformation. The crew was professional and cleaned up daily. The cedar siding was removed and the house was wrapped. Extensive rot in the porch area was replaced with new wood before new siding was installed. I was always informed. Siding was also installed on my concrete garage which I had just wanted painted in order to keep the cost down. Jeremy convinced me otherwise and gave me a great price. The custom garage door was a challenge but now looks beautiful. The lights and mailbox arrived after the job was complete but the crew came back to install after the fact. I highly recommend Jeremy and Sensible Home Products.
AMAZING! Jeremy and his team did such a great job. He actually went above and beyond and really turned our house around. Not only does it look better but it is more sturdy as well. Jeremy also came across a few issues due to years of neglect on our house and he came up with long lasting solutions, for example we had a door that was incorrectly put in when the house was built years ago. Because of this our basement was collecting mold. Jeremy was able to take the door out and replace it with a window and cement the bottom so it matches toe rest of our foundation. Also my husband and I are first time home owners and don’t understand a lot and Jeremy really took the time to explain what he was doing. His customer service alone would make us hire him again. His work is incredible too. It’s like an art to him. He framed our windows and doors and it looks incredible. Since the siding has been done everyone around our street has been asking about it. We have a couple of home projects coming up in the future and we will definitely be hiring Jeremy again.
Results were excellent. All work done very professionally, even going beyond what was contracted for to make some needed repairs.
Sensible Home products arrived promptly, in a timely manner, Everyone from this company is courteous and respectful. All work was completed in a very neat manner. You would never know that there had been a severe, messy problem. When the work was completed, everything was clean and normal looking.
Jeremy and Sensible Home Products did an outstanding job on the vinyl siding installation for our home. We selected him after interviewing and receiving estimates from the large “brand name” outfits you regularly see advertised, and down to the one-man-show independent siding installers. Ask yourself why he has jobs already reserved months from now, yet he doesn’t have anywhere near the level of advertising as the big brand names. The reason is he and his crew do top quality work and will absolutely not stop until you are completely satisfied. Luckily, he saw we wanted to get the job done before the cold weather set in because our old cedar siding could not tolerate another winter, and he was able to rearrange his schedule to make it work for us. If you have questions or concerns along the way, he is always just a phone call away, which was great for someone like me who is very particular about the look and installation methods because I’m a fairly capable DIYer, so there were methods and materials that I wanted them to use on my home. I really appreciated his and the crew’s attention to not only my concerns, but the small details that we didn’t see. Many installers will side over compromised structure and move onto the next job, but Jeremy and his crew evaluate and go ahead to replace any rotten sheathing or studs before they begin re-siding, knowing that their finished product is only as good as what’s underneath. They worked professionally, politely and, above all, honestly. He will not snowball you with a flashy presentation or pressure you into making a deal. Instead he gives an honest evaluation of your property and what it needs, and lets his past work do the talking. You won’t have any buyer’s remorse going with Sensible. Pound for pound, they are by far the best choice you can make and I will continue to recommend Jeremy to my friends any family.
Jeremy and his business are top notch. He is honest and trust-worthy. Jeremy and his crew are punctual, work long hours and are immaculate. You get more than what you pay for when it comes to the quality of his product. We continue to get compliments on the work that was done. Ours was not an easy job due to less than quality work that had been done prior to our owning the home. Jeremy and his team had to fix the poor work done in the past before they could complete the job. He was above board throughout the process. The end result is a home that we are very satisfied with and proud to own. Jeremy and Sensible Home products is the company you want to work on your home.
I couldn’t be happier with the work that Sensible Home Products did on my home. I’ll begin by saying I’m a perfectionist and work in the construction industry as a Project Manager. I hire (and fire) contractors for a living and expect a lot of contractors who are involved on my projects. I called up and met with over 7 contractors when it was time to do my siding and roofing job. I saw everything, from the 2 hour-long presentation to a 2 minute walk around and estimate on a scrap piece of paper. When I met Jeremy (the owner) I knew immediately he was a top contender for the work. Jeremy is polite, courteous and very knowledgeable about his trade. From talking with him and looking at his pictures and driving by his previous jobs, its obvious he takes extreme pride in the work he does. He sat with my wife and I, showed us his work and explained the different products he works with. I was very impressed with the way he does his window trim, I haven’t seen anything like it from all of the contractors I met with and with the type of siding he uses. The Prodigy siding is an amazing product, insulated, ridged and nicely textured. No one else offered a product close to that. His estimate was spot on. It was no where near as high as the dog and pony show contractor and fairly priced above the fly by night napkin estimate we got from the low end guy. After I finished meeting with all of the contractors on my list, it was a no brainer, Jeremy was our guy. When it was time to sign the contract, I put Jeremy through his paces. My home is 80 years old with may quirky add-ons. I made sure he was able to explain how he would perform the work in certain tricky areas and nothing stumped him, he really is a problem solver. We signed on the dotted line positive we were receiving the best work at the best price. When Sensible Home Products showed up to start my work, all of the plants around my house were protected and my yard was kept very clean for a construction zone. Upon beginning to strip my roof, it was revealed that there were 3 layers of shingles, rather than the 2 I had thought. Jeremy’s guys had to work twice as hard and had to order a second dumpster. Jeremy took on the added cost…Amazing! No contractor does that for their customers! The roof was completed quickly and professionally and looks incredible. After the roof was done, Jeremy’s crew began stripping the siding. Jeremy himself and his lead guy Andrew actually went around filling gaps in my old board sheathing with insulation, I never even asked for that! Jeremy was just going above and beyond, I was very impressed! The siding was the bulk of the job. With 25 windows and 3 exterior doors to trim out, the detail work was critical and painstaking. Just like me, Jeremy is a stickler for the details and was on site everyday making sure his guys got it right. Any concerns I had were addressed immediately and professionally. I can’t be more sincere when I say that out of all of the contractors I have worked with, both at work and for my home, Jeremy was the best hands down. By the end working with Jeremy and seeing him everyday became like working with a friend. He is a great guy with a huge heart and genuinely cares about making sure his customer is beyond satisfied with the work he performs on their homes. I will definitely hire Sensible Home Products again if need be and have recommended them to all of my friends and family.
Courteous. Integrity.
Three words that come to mind after working with Sensible
Home Products to reside my house this past winter.
At the beginning of the year, my home was struck by a drunk
driver. It is a blessing that neither
the driver nor anyone else was killed or injured. However, the vehicle strike to the corner of
the house required the replacement of all the siding, gutters and downspouts.
Insurance appraisers for the driver?s and my home owner?s
insurance companies came and went. I
began to research building codes and siding companies. I finalized my research and set appointments
with five companies. I knew what my
insurance company had given me for the job so I began the meetings.
Being self-employed, I understand the process of selling not
only your product but also your business, a part of you. No appointment was going to be a quick
5-minute look around the property and hand me a quote meeting, yet I scheduled
an entire day of appointments. I had had
appointments with several companies: a no show, no call and no I won?t
reschedule with your company; arrive smelling of alcohol so I know the
employees will be drinking on the job, on my property, no thank you; incomplete
job quotes which leave room for increases beyond the budget number given, yeah
no; job quotes one and one half to two times the budget number given, again,
no;. My time is valuable and so is
everyone else?s. No phone call to say
you can?t keep the appointment shows you don?t value your potential
customer. Arriving for an appointment
smelling of alcohol is completely unprofessional. There?s no respect for the potential
customer. I get that construction comes
with surprises, but a built in 1 ½ to 2 times the budget number given
before-hand causes me to be suspicious.
Sensible Home Products was next.
I believe it was Zig Ziglar who said when you do the right
thing, good things come to you.
I was returning home for the appointment when the radiator
hose on the car split in Cromwell, CT, 20 minutes away from my home and 45
minutes before the appointment with Sensible Home Products. I had made arrangements for the car repair
and to be on time for the appointment. I began to call Jeremy from Sensible
Home Products but he was already on the phone calling me. He was able to meet earlier than scheduled
and was confirming I was home. Jeremy
gave a brief overview of his company and asked if he could be at my house in 15
minutes. I mentioned the car problem and
asked to keep the original appointment time, 45 minutes later. Jeremy switched from pitching the job to
asking if I needed a tow, did I have triple A?
My response was I did not have triple A.
His next response was to tell me he would find his membership card and
call for me. Yes, Jeremy went from selling his business to what can I do to
help you?
After several calls, the appointment was rescheduled for the
following day. Jeremy arrived on time
and prepared to look at the property and present a quote. He was very professional and straight-forward. He explained the product (Prodigy Insulated
siding) the company used, why they used it and why they didn?t use anything
else. He walked around the house,
measured and gave me a job quote.
I had made the decision to go with Sensible Home Products
not after the appointment and receiving the quote but when Jeremy stopped
selling his business and went out of his way to help me with my towing dilemma. Jeremy didn?t reschedule the appointment and
hang up the phone; he made the decision to help without measuring it against
the bottom line. It all said integrity to me.
After answering a few questions for my clarification, my
husband & I signed the contract and mailed it out. A week later, once the insurance check
cleared, we sent the deposit.
Winter weather hadn?t really happened before January, so the
plan was to start the job within a week of receiving the deposit check. But nature and weather patterns can cause
havoc with any outside home improvement or renovation at any time of the year! Rather than ignore the customer until the
weather cleared, Jeremy was on the phone keeping me informed of the new
projected start date. Weather continued
to cause problems, but I was never left guessing about the start time of our
job.
Finally, a break came in the weather and scheduling. All the colors on the quote were double
checked, location of products and dumpster were communicated and, the most
important detail, the project start date.
The crew members for Sensible Home Products were extremely
professional. They took the time to
answer any questions either my husband or I asked them. Nothing, absolutely nothing, was left on the
ground each day they were able to work.
Yes, weather caused delays more than once. Jeremy called to keep me updated each and every
time.
The compliments started as soon as the windows were framed
and wrapped. Everyone thought we had new
windows installed. The high quality work
was noticed with just that part of the house completed. The quality of the siding is visibly superior
to anything else around our home. Jeremy
had told me that we would notice how the siding would help maintain the heat
during the winter and the air conditioning during the summer, the house was
only partially sided and a major snow storm came through the state. We heat our home with a pellet stove and
noticed immediately how much of a difference the siding made with heat
retention. The last time we had a storm
like that we had to run the pellet stove at its highest plus use our
woodstove. This storm we only used the
pellet stove at the midpoint setting.
With the house finished, it looks brand
new. Friends are driving by to look at
the finished product. The compliments
continue to be expressed. The house
looks so good my neighbors are taking notice and sprucing up their properties.
eremy knows his business well and is very passionate about the quality of work.
My husband and I purchased a home four years ago and knew upon purchase we were going to need to re-side it at some point.
Initial Consultation:
I met with six different contractors over the course of one month and knew within minutes of meeting Jeremy from Sensible Home Products that he was the right fit for our project.
Preliminary Meeting
When spring approached, Jeremy was diligent about following up with us without making us feel pressured.
Project Go Time:
Day one of the project, the house was stripped and the first unknown issue arose.
Communication:
What I found most impressive about working with Jeremy was the exceptional level of communication he provided throughout the project.
Cleanliness:
I expected the house to be a mess during this process but was pleasantly surprised at how clean and neat Jeremy’s crew was.
Above and Beyond:
I was extremely grateful with the level of service provided by Jeremy, especially components that went well above and beyond what he was hired to do.
Final Thoughts:
Like most homeowners, our home is very special to us and placing it in the care of a stranger causes a lot of anxiety and stress, especially when adding the financial strain to the mix.
(We were not charged for the 3 additional squares of siding by Jeremy.)
Jeremy came out with one of his crew to put the finishing touches on the front door and install a storm door on the rear garage door.

My husband and I purchased a home four years ago and knew upon purchase we were going to need to re-side it at some point.
Initial Consultation:
I met with six different contractors over the course of one month and knew within minutes of meeting Jeremy from Sensible Home Products that he was the right fit for our project.
Preliminary Meeting
When spring approached, Jeremy was diligent about following up with us without making us feel pressured.
Project Go Time:
Day one of the project, the house was stripped and the first unknown issue arose.
Communication:
What I found most impressive about working with Jeremy was the exceptional level of communication he provided throughout the project.
Cleanliness:
I expected the house to be a mess during this process but was pleasantly surprised at how clean and neat Jeremy’s crew was.
Above and Beyond:
I was extremely grateful with the level of service provided by Jeremy, especially components that went well above and beyond what he was hired to do.
Final Thoughts:
Like most homeowners, our home is very special to us and placing it in the care of a stranger causes a lot of anxiety and stress, especially when adding the financial strain to the mix.
His team is professional, courteous, and quick at their jobs.
His team is professional, courteous, and quick at their jobs. It’s difficult to find a good contractor but Jeremy is one of the best out there. Give him a call and let him look at your project. His prices are far better than the competition (the door project cost me 4000 dollars less than I was quoted by RESCOM) and his workmanship is outstanding!
